ANNOUNCING THE APPLICATIONDEC 433MP SYSTEM
=======================================================================
o A new product approach, featuring an open, industry-standard system
o Digital's most expandable system for small to medium enterprises
=======================================================================
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The applicationDEC 433MP System is based on industry-standard
technology: SCO UNIX System V from The Santa Cruz Operation, Inc. (a
worldwide leader in UNIX open system software solutions); Intel 33 MHz
486 processors; the Industry Standard Architecture (ISA) bus; and SCSI
devices. It features a dual bus architecture, a high performance C-Bus
(9 slots) for CPU and memory, and an industry-standard ISA bus (7
slots) for popular PC option boards. The backplane is capable of
supporting future Extended Industry Standard Architecture (EISA)
products. The system software is based on SCO UNIX System V with MPX
multiprocessor extensions, providing immediate access to over 4,000
small to medium business applications.
The applicationDEC 433MP system can be configured to support a variety
of compute environments: for example, timesharing, file server, LAN
server, or X Window System host. It supports 1 to 6 Intel 33 MHz 486
CPU boards; optional CPU boards include either serial I/O or high
performance SCSI functionality. Memory is expandable from 8 Mbytes to
64 Mbytes in 4 Mbyte increments. Internal storage can grow to 1. 2
Gbytes with six 209 Mbyte RZ24 disks. External storage can grow to 2.
6 Gbytes with four RZ57 disks. The applicationDEC 433MP system is also
CDROM ready.
For timesharing environments in small to medium enterprises, access to
the applicationDEC 433MP system will usually be through VT terminals.
For graphics/windows environments, a high resolution 1024 x 768 VGA
card (with a mouse) is offered, as well as a 16-inch color MultiSync
video display with 1280 x 1024 maximum resolution.
