  9. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

  11. The applicationDEC 433MP System is based on industry-standard
  12. technology:  SCO UNIX System V from The Santa Cruz Operation, Inc. (a
  13. worldwide leader in UNIX open system software solutions); Intel 33 MHz
  14. 486 processors; the Industry Standard Architecture (ISA) bus; and SCSI
  15. devices.  It features a dual bus architecture, a high performance C-Bus
  16. (9 slots) for CPU and memory, and an industry-standard ISA bus (7
  17. slots) for popular PC option boards.  The backplane is capable of
  18. supporting future Extended Industry Standard Architecture (EISA)
  19. products.  The system software is based on SCO UNIX System V with MPX
  20. multiprocessor extensions, providing immediate access to over 4,000
  21. small to medium business applications.

  23. The applicationDEC 433MP system can be configured to support a variety
  24. of compute environments: for example, timesharing, file server, LAN
  25. server, or X Window System host.  It supports 1 to 6 Intel 33 MHz 486
  26. CPU boards; optional CPU boards include either serial I/O or high
  27. performance SCSI functionality.  Memory is expandable from 8 Mbytes to
  28. 64 Mbytes in 4 Mbyte increments.  Internal storage can grow to 1. 2
  29. Gbytes with six 209 Mbyte RZ24 disks.  External storage can grow to 2.
  30. 6 Gbytes with four RZ57 disks.  The applicationDEC 433MP system is also
  31. CDROM ready.

  33. For timesharing environments in small to medium enterprises, access to
  34. the applicationDEC 433MP system will usually be through VT terminals.
  35. For graphics/windows environments, a high resolution 1024 x 768 VGA
  36. card (with a mouse) is offered, as well as a 16-inch color MultiSync
  37. video display with 1280 x 1024 maximum resolution.

  72. options.

  74. 2.  Order base kernel and options, with the hardware options pre-
  75. installed and tested.  Software options arrive at the same time, but
  76. are not pre-installed.
